“take risks and get your reps in.”

Q&A with leah

How does your extensive clinical experience as a psychotherapist benefit organizations and their cultures?

With thousands of hours of clinical experience, I bring a deep understanding of human behavior, emotions, and relationships to my work as a consultant. I leverage this expertise to help organizations build cultures that prioritize productivity, grit, and recovery. Sustaining success and progress doesn’t have to lead to burnout. Living and leading proactively takes deliberation and consistency. Incorporating healthy boundaries and Mindfulness tactics not only fuels authentic connection, it empowers team members to categorize their well-being as a ‘non-negotiable.’

How has your background as a former Division 1 basketball player shaped your approach to competitiveness, Resilience, Self-care, and dedication?

I’m a recovering perfectionist and know first hand how much energy it takes to combat anxiety and a fierce inner critic. Sports have taught me to meet challenges head on rather than avoid them. Reframing discomfort as a response to change and progress has empowered me to take risks and embrace the unknown. I love working with overachievers who find themselves in a constant battle with themselves. Accessing your ‘resilience bank’ is key, but honoring your limits and need for reflection and recovery is essential even for the fiercest competitor.

What sets your speaking engagements apart and how do you continue to Elevate the stage?

When I witness the expressions of the audience subtly transform, signaling their thoughts are in motion and they are being challenged, my passion ignites. Whether addressing a small group or a full auditorium, my goal is to captivate every individual. My interactive style and clinical knowledge equips each audience with invaluable tools and a framework to gain self-awareness to empower and create lasting changes to their thought processes, behaviors, and relationships. Every speech or workshop is tailored to the specific event and audience. In therapy, I meet people where they currently are and as a speaker, I follow the same formula.

How does your involvement on a private board supporting a company’s Culture toward wellness shape your desire to do more in this area?

Fostering a robust and wellness-centered corporate culture is a core focus of mine, and my active engagement on a private board has significantly amplified my dedication to making a meaningful impact in this area. By offering coaching sessions that provide leaders with a space for reflection and introspection, I place a paramount emphasis on nurturing the well-being of organizational leaders, which, in turn, generates substantial benefits for both the entire company and the individuals under their guidance. Whether it’s assisting with a transition, improving communication, or implementing consistent ways to authentically lead, I make tailored recommendations that promote a culture of wellness and bolster sustainable productivity.

How do you maintain your well-being?

I’ve learned to focus on the basics in order to manage my anxiety and fuel my confidence: Exercise is my medicine, sleep is my reset, food is my fuel, and silence is my peace. I make deliberate time to nurture my relationships and am constantly inspired as I watch my two daughters and husband take their own risks. I’m a nature lover and hope to one day have a tiny home in the mountains with only the essentials and plenty of space for adventure.
